What a Great Week!

This has been a great week!  We have our first major test under our belts, we had beautiful weather, and we have a beautiful weekend ahead of us!  Be sure to get out and enjoy it!

The Second Grade Standard
Friday, September 26, 2014

Musical Parts Assigned! … Students found out today what parts they will have in our 1st-4th grade musical.  You will find a list of the parts on my Fast Direct Bulletin Board.  We were so overwhelmed with the talent that each child displayed!  Everyone who auditions received a special part in the musical!

Homework … We have been struggling with homework recently!  We, as a class, had a discussion today about what it means to be responsible.  I reminded students that they should be checking their backpacks in the morning before they leave home to make sure that they have everything.  Thank you for your help in this area!

AR! – again! … So, I dropped the ball on this one this past week!  We will be starting AR on Monday this week.  Thanks for your understanding!

Our First Test! … What a success!  We all did really well!  I still have 2 students who need to take the test, so as soon as those are completed, I will send tests homeJ.

Social Studies Begins! … We will be starting our first chapter in Social Studies.  We have a new program this year and I am excited to begin learning more about the history of our country!

Walk-A-Thon Dress Code … Wednesday will be a free dress day due to the Walk-A-Thon.  Remember to keep it appropriate – no yoga pants or tank tops!

Volunteer Needed! … A volunteer is need for picture day on both Monday, October 6th and Tuesday, October 7th.  Volunteers will receive a $20 credit toward their picture packets.  If you are able to help in this way, please call Mrs. Morrison in the office.

Important Choir Dates! … First and Second Grade choir, Youth-4-Truth, will be singing 4 times this school year.  In the past, students have sung in front of the congregation.  This year, we will be singing from the balcony so that we become a part of the worship, rather than a performance.  All performances are at the 9:30 service.  Here are the dates:
Sunday, November 23
Sunday, January 25 (Lutheran Schools Week)
Sunday, March 22
Sunday, April 26

Memory Work: Due Thursday, October 2, 2014:
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart with all your mind and with all your soul. Matthew 22:37

[God is] Merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. Exodus 34:6

The Second Commandment.  You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God. What does this mean? We should fear, love God so that we do not curse, swear, use satanic arts, lie or deceive by His name, but call upon it in every trouble. Pray, praise and give thanks.

Spelling Test: Friday, October 3, 2014:

spin, clap, grade, swim, place, last, test, skin, drag, glide, just, stage, slip, drive, climb, price
