The Most Important Lesson!

Today, we learned a very important lesson. I think it may be the most important thing ever! We were listening during Read Aloud/Snack time this morning when we read something funny. It really turned into a great teachable moment! We are currently reading the book "Clementine" by Sara Pennypacker. Clementine is very much like Junie B. Jones, but she seems to have more of an attention problem that gets her into trouble. It's a great book -- I highly recommend it! Anyway, we were reading about how she helped her friend (who had cut off all her hair) by drawing on her head with permanent marker. When she went home & got in bet her parents got a phone call from the parent who was not happy. It helps if I just put the quote in, so here it is:
"My dad said, "Hi, Susan," which is Margaret's mother's name, and then he didn't say anything for a long time. Then he said, "Now, Susan, let's just look at this calmly," and then he didn't say anything for another long time. And then he said "I'm sorry" seven times, which is two more times that he said after he told my mother he thought her overalls were getting a little snug."
Now, I started laughing & the students wanted to know why. I told them why (here's where the most important lesson comes in). I said, "Boys, if you never learn anything else, don't EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER tell a girl that her pants look like they're getting tight!!! We don't like it!" But, seriously, it was something that some of us were talking about for the rest of the day!

Anyway, Here we go...

Successes: He had a few pockets of quiet time where we were actually able to get work done!!!

Struggles: Well, in between those pockets of quiet times were "not-so-quiet" times. We'll keep working on it! Keep us in your prayers!

Homework: Science wkst. 55, Math 47B, Reading wkst. 158.

Prayers: We gave thanks for all of the wonderful times that we had over the weekend!

Many Blessings,
Miss Mazur
