Today was a great day!  The students have been hard at work for 4 days now!
Here we go...
Successes:  We had fun today writing about different activities that we have experienced while in water.  The students each chose an event from their past and wrote about it.  They were great stories!  Be sure to check it out tonight before they turn it in tomorrow.
Struggles:  Today we practiced our Lockdown Drill.  For the most part we did okay, but I found that the students had a difficult time taking it seriously.  The majority of us were hiding in the bathroom & I heard pounding, giggles, the toilet was flushed 3 different times, and a student's glasses ended up in the toilet.  While the last one may seem really funny, it still saddens me that they weren't listening.  I told them that they have to take this as seriously as a fire drill or tornado drill.  We did have the privilege of having a Birmingham detective come through to tell us how we are doing.  I shared with the students what he said & I will also share it with you..."Remember 3 things:  Doors locked, lights off & mouths closed!"  Please be sure to take some time within the next few days to talk with your child about the importance of following directions in any kind of drill, but especially a Lockdown Drill.  We will be having one at a later date & I would love for us to be experts!
Homework:  Water story from Science, Math 66B, Reading wkst. 210-220, and Spelling test!
Blessings,
