Food
Bank Easter Baskets … Carol’s
Cupboard, the Our Shepherd Food Bank, is collecting items to fill Easter
baskets for families in need.  Things
like small toys, candy (individually wrapped), coloring books, crayons, markers
are all items that can be used to fill these baskets.  If you would like to help our food bank in
this way, please send them in with your children.  Our offerings for this month will also be
used to purchase items for these baskets.
Thanks for your generosity during this time!
Spelling
… Due to Iowa testing, we
will not have a Spelling Test this week.
Iowa Tests … Just a reminder that we will be taking Iowa
tests this week.  Since the majority of
our tests are given and paced orally, it’s imperative that each child be at
school each day!  While it is
understandable that illnesses will arise, please be mindful of our testing this
week and be sure that students come to with enough time to prepare for the day.
Theme
Dress Monday! … In
celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, students are allowed to wear a green shirt
with jeans or khakis on Monday.
Paper
Airplanes … Just a reminder
that each child’s paper airplanes are due in class on Monday, March 17th.  We will be working on our Science Fair
project all week!
Memory
Work Assignment … This past
week, the majority of students struggled to recite The Ninth Commandment.  I was very disappointed as student after
student required more than the 3 “helps” that I give them.  Therefore, I have decided to make it part of
our Memory Work assignment this week as well.
Please take time this week to discuss the importance of Memory Work and
work with your child to make sure that they are able to recite it with minimal
help from an adult.
Memory
Work due Thursday, March 20, 2014:
Little children, let us not love in word or talk,
but in deed and in truth. 1 John 3:18
The Ninth Commandment You shall not
covet your neighbor's house. What does this mean? We should fear and love God
so that we do not scheme to get our neighbor's inheritance or house, or get it
in a way which only appears right, but help and be of service to him in keeping
it.
The Tenth Commandment You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his
manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your
neighbor.  What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that
we do not entice or force away our neighbor's wife, workers, or animals, or
turn them against him, bur urge them to stay and do their duty.
