Then End of Our First Week!

It's funny how someone can be happy to be back at school and happy for the end of the week at the same time!  We have had a great week!  We are still learning the tricks of the trade, but that will all come with time:).  I hope that you will all have a great Labor Day Weekend!

Church and Sunday School Attendance … Please be sure to keep track of your child’s Church & Sunday School Attendance on the form provided in the Friday Folder.  This is the only record that I have and the information provided on this form will be used to complete your child’s report card.  Thanks for your cooperation!

Magazines Needed … We are in need unwanted children’s magazines.  Cricket, Highlights, American Girl, National Geographic Kids, etc. are all great titles to send into our classroom.  We will be using these in our book boxes during our daily “Read to Self” time.  Thanks for your generosity!

Remind 101 … Just a reminder for those of you who have not yet signed up to be a part of Remind 101 for our classroom – please do so this weekend!  It’s a great way for me to send a quick reminder for parents about special activities that are coming up soon!  Simply send an email to b9e06@mail.remind101.com or send a text to 720.924.4055 with the code @b9e06 in the message.

Our Classroom Blog … Be sure to visit our classroom blog, The Second Grade Saga, at www.mazurosls.blogspot.com to catch up on our daily happenings!  I try to write something every day to let you know what we’ve been up to & what we need to be working on…sometimes I’m better at that than othersJ!  You will also find a copy of this newsletter there at the end of each week!

Theme Dress Days … This year we will only be having Theme Dress days on the Third Friday of every month. Please remember that students are expected to wear dress code on the first Friday of every month.  Thanks for your cooperation!

Memory Work can be found each week at the end of our classroom newsletter.  It usually consists of 2-3 verses that must be said by lunchtime on Thursday.  Students will be able to say it any day prior to that during our Religion time.  I will give them three “helps” when they are reciting the verses.  If they need more than those 3 “helps” they will be asked to study it & try again the next day.

Housekeeping...  Every morning children are expected to complete 4 things to make sure they are ready for our school day to begin.  As we adjust to being in second grade we might need some help, but our goal is to be able to do it completely by ourselves by the end of September.  Thanks for your support in making this work!J

Bagel Days…  Bagel days are on Tuesday & Friday mornings each week.  To help with the start of our school day, I ask that students who choose to have bagels arrive as close to 8:00 as possible.  Students will only be able to eat until morning announcements are finished.  At that time, students will be asked to put their bagels in their backpacks and will be able to finish them at lunch or during snack later in the day.  Thanks for your understanding!
